The Cloth of God (Antimins)

The Cloth of God (Antimins – from the Greek Ἀντιμήνσιον, Antimension: “instead of the Holy Table”) is a consecrated rectangular white silk cloth decorated with the Seal of God containing Tetragrammaton (The Name of God transliterated in four letters as YHWH) and biblical spiritual symbols and word spiritual formulas. White color represents light, innocence, purity, joy, God’s triumph, and glory. White also symbolizes the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
WORSHIP IN SPIRIT
It’s impossible to follow God unless we are led by the Holy Spirit. And the only way to be led by the Spirit is to be filled by the Spirit. But how do we know that we are filled with the Spirit?
The Spirit transforms our daily life and imbues it with greater potency, love, peace, and joy. Every day we should invite the presence of the Holy Spirit into our life.
The Bible sums up nine attributes in term The Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23):

  • LOVE
  • JOY
  • PEACE
  • PATIENCE
  • KINDNESS
  • GOODNESS
  • FAITHFULNESS
  • GENTLENESS
  • SELF-CONTROL

The Divine Spirit appears with faith as a part of our relationship with God, brings a sacredness and power to even the most “mundane” aspects of existence and imbues basic tasks with love, joy, faithfulness and spiritual connection. The Spirit is a divine force that moves through all things. As you become more aware of this higher force moving in your life and express your gratitude for it, it expands and colors your daily life with a radiance and eternal light that connects you to God.

The antimins is a personal altar serving a very important spiritual and pastoral need in LFG Church. The Cloth of God allows all members of the church around the world pray connected to each other in the Holy Spirit Circle. The consecrated antimins spiritually connects all participants of the Holy Spirit Circle with the sacred actions of bishops or priests, allowing everyone remotely celebrate a Sacrificial Worship with the Eucharist by using the Cloth of God upon which the Sacred Host and Chalice are placed during the celebration.
The Cloth of God might be used for the healing prayer events also, which the essence consists in group prayers of the Holy Spirit Circle and in the laying-on of hands.
It may fairly be assumed that something in the nature of an antimins has been in use since the earliest days of Christianity. The Antimins is one of the most important furnishings of the altar in many Eastern Christian liturgical traditions.
